Germany and Austria : Nov. 2008- We visited Salzburg and Innsbruck, Austria as well as Augsburg and Munich, Germany. This was our last trip before moving back to the states and we think it could have been one of the best. We had a great time driving between each town and enjoying the beautiful scenery. It was snowing for most of our trip and it didn't get much above freezing at any point. We were able to scope out the Christmas Markets and really enjoyed all the festivities. We look forward to going back to this area again soon.

Hadrian's Wall : Nov. 2008- A quick day trip up to Hadrian's Wall. It was about a 2 hour drive north from York. The wall was built by the Romans across the north of England. It wasn't too cold outside, but it was VERY windy! You will see a few picks were we are almost getting knocked over.

Rome and the Amalfi Coast : October 2008- Our big fall trip was to Rome for 3 days and down to the Amalfi Coast for the rest of the week. We had a great time on this trip. We encountered more history and by far the oldest items/buildings we have seen. After the hustle and bustle of Rome we were glad to escape to laid back Conca dei Marini on the Amalfi Coast where we rented an apartment w/ a great veiw of the water. Ty was a great driver and got us safely there and back even w/ the crazy Italian drivers and hairpin turns. We ventured out to the Isle of Capri one day, but managed to relax and enjoy our vacation other than that.

The Lake District : October 2008- We took a drive up to the English Lake District and stayed on Lake Windermere. Our friends Sara and Jason joined us for the weekend adventure. On Saturday, it RAINED... ALL day long- sideways. We did what we could to amuse ourselves with indoor activities to escape the outdoors which were cold and very, very wet. So, there are no pics from Sat. b/c there wasn't anything worth seeing. Sunday was a beautiful day and really made up for Saturday. We were able to venture out and about and get some great pics of the lakes and the surrounding countryside. We even went for a horseback ride!

England Summer Trips : Summer 2008- We visited several spots in England over the summer. In July we went to the British Open and made a few stops along the way in the countryside. In August we went down to London for the weekend and had a great time checking out a few new spots. We also went out to Hampton Court Palace for a day trip.

Prague : June 2008- Our visit to Prague was to celebrate our friend Sara's 30th birthday (it has also been referred to as Sara-kah). We had a wonderful time in this beautiful city and rate it second only to Barcelona. The beautiful buildings and rooftops with their varying colors gave the city a becoming charm. We spent most of our time wandering around the streets and enjoying being lazy in a new European city.

Paris : May 22-27, Our visit to Paris was a great trip! We really enjoyed visiting the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Arc du Triumph, and the Eiffel Tower. We took a trip out to the Palace of Versailles, the home of Louis XIV. We also spent a day at EuroDisney which was like a little piece of home for us. Paris was a great weekend and we really tried to make the most of it.

May Visitors : May 6-13, My parents came to visit us and we hit up several new spots to visit. Somehow they managed to have a week of GREAT weather. They can't understand why we complain about the terrible English weather after this visit. Their travels included a trip to Bath, Windsor Castle, Blenheim Palace, and Stratford-upon-Avon. We had a great time and are so glad that they came to visit!

Venice and 'The Cruise' : April/May 2008- We visited Venice as the departure point for our 'big cruise.' The cruise went to Dubrovnik (Croatia), Kusadasi (Turkey), Santorini, and Corfu (Greece). We had a wonderful time and we met some great people. As you will see in the photos each of the areas that we visited were absolutely beautiful!

Peak District : April 5-6, we visited the Peak District which is south west of York. Chatsworth house in Bakewell was a beautiful estate and gardens. We could have spent a lot more time wandering around the grounds of the house. We stayed the night in Matlock Bath which was a cute little town that reminded us of North Georgia. On Sunday we visited several other areas in the Peak District including multiple caverns.

Milan/ Lake Como : Easter Weekend '08- we traveled to Milan for our first visit to Italy. On Easter Sunday we took the 1 hr train ride up to Lake Como- part of the Italian Lakes. It was a great day trip w/ beautiful views of the lake and the surrounding area which include the Italian Alps. We would recommend making a trip up there to anyone.

Just say no... : March 2008- If your friends ever invite you on a 10 mile hike... take our advice and just say NO. Our friends Ben and Louisa invited us to go on a 10 mile 'walk' in the North York Moors. We thought it sounded like a good idea- get outside, some excercise, pretty views, etc. We didn't think 10 miles would be too much seeing how much we walk so much in all the cities we visit and we walk around York constantly... we were SO wrong. I wish I could say that a good time was had by all, but w/ pulled muscles, rain, and getting lost we all learned a lesson and will each say no to anything over 5 miles in the future.

Barcelona : Jan 2008- My birthday trip to Barcelona was our favorite so far! We loved this city and really enjoyed the quick visit. We will be going back for sure! Most of our tiime was spent wandering around and in and out of shops. We had lots of good food and even made a trip to the beach. It was my first time seeing the Mediterranean.

Christmas 2007 : Our Christmas in York... dinner Christmas Eve at a nice place in town, midnight service at the York Minster. We woke up Christmas morning to open Christmas presents with each other. We cooked dinner at our house and our friends Keith and Rebecca joined us to celebrate. Overall it was a nice day. We hope you had a Merry Christmas too.

Thanksgiving Visitors! : November 2007: Pat, Jesse, and Kenneth came to visit us! We were able to take them all over York and to travel to London and Edinburgh. We are so glad that they were able to come over and be here for Thanksgiving as well... too bad we missed out on turkey and dressing at home.

Yorkshire Travels : Summer/ Fall 2007: We have visited several great spots in the Yorkshire region. Castle Howard is definately our favorite Estate that we have seen so far. We got brave and finally rented a car the first of October and drove up to Whitby and over to Helmsley for some day trips. The drive to Whitby through the dales was so beautiful and the village itself is a great place to visit as well.
